ABOUT US

The three sisters and a friend who now own the Anchorage Inn Hotel for many years were some of the regular patrons of the property when they hosted a Christmas party for underprivileged children, at what was then the 10 room “Island Inn.” After the sad passing of the beloved owner, sisters Nena, Delores and Georgice along with their good friend Charlene Selkridge were fearful of not being able to host their party and made the brave move to purchase the property.

Since then the female entrepreneurs have extended their community spirit to other fortunate family, friends and organisations looking for a fabulous location for parties and fundraisers and earned themselves a reputation as ‘the caring inn’. On becoming owners of the inn they also embarked on an expansion plan for the hotel which has seen it grow to a fourty room property that still retains an incredible Caribbean family atmosphere, something that is very important to the owners and the manager Nena Nanton.

Nena makes it her priority to ensure that the family atmosphere is retained and built upon. A great example is when she is making a run into a town, she will often take guests with her who fancy a wander around the Capital St. John’s and will ensure they know the best places to eat, not just about the tourist traps. In talking to her about why people love the hotel she says,’Its really important to us that when people visit they feel like they are staying with family, a home away from home. As a hotel our owners are involved in so many community projects and organisations that they know everyone and everything about the island. When our guests want to explore, or know more about the island we can guide them to our favourite spots and ensure they find out about the real Antigua.’

Of course there is nothing more real in Antigua then the love of Carnival and Cricket and two things very close to the teams heart. They have all been very involved in Dynamic Mas Troupe one of the biggest bands to play mas at Antigua’s Summer Festival. Costume making becomes a part of everyone’s job as the event gets nearer and then come carnival you will find everyone on the road playing mas. As for cricket, you will often find Caribbean teams or teams visiting from around the world on a Caribbean tour staying at the hotel.

Most mornings you will find Nena hosting breakfast in our lovely restaurant and loving the time she gets to speak with guests and understand what they enjoy about Antigua and the Anchorage Inn Hotel.

We look forward to welcoming you to our “Tropical Family Inn” whether you are on business, visiting family and friends or on vacation.
